Yes, despite not keeping my blog updated, I'm still around. It's been busy around here, although right now I'm enjoying a bit of "calm before the storm".
My short is coming on nicely, if a bit slowly. There's been a lot of distractions, but most of them fall under one heading: Top Gear.
Also, I finally managed to get my hands on the original Gone in 60 Seconds. The 1974 classic. The one that supposedly started it all. And I must say, I prefer it to the remake (although the Mach 1 Mustang (Eleanor) isn't half as beautiful as the remake's Shelby GT500KR.)
This one has a rawness that modern movies lack. How often do you see a chase where the lead car gets smashed as the chase starts? Bourne Supremacy is the only modern movie I can think of right now that has a proper car chase this messy and un-clinical.
In fact, I read on IMDB.com that several of Gone's crashes were actually real, unplanned accidents that got worked into the film. See? Anyway, head to Varaces.com to see a database of every movie featuring a chase sequence.
Speaking of car chases, GTA San Andreas is almost finished, I reckon. I'm about to go deal with Big Smoke, and I've been delaying it for more than 2 weeks now. Been playing around with some mods from GTAGaming.
